Adding a watermark helps protect your images from unauthorised use and establishes ownership when sharing photos online. This tool overlays your chosen text onto the image at the position and opacity you specify. The text is rendered in white with a dark shadow for visibility on both light and dark images. All processing happens in your browser — your images are never uploaded.

How to use

  1. Click 'Choose Image' and select the image you want to watermark.
  2. Enter your watermark text, select the position, and adjust the opacity.
  3. Click 'Add Watermark' and download the watermarked image.

FAQ

Can I change the font, size, or colour of the watermark?

This tool uses a fixed white-with-shadow style for maximum visibility across different image backgrounds. The font size is automatically scaled relative to the image dimensions. For full control over watermark styling, use a desktop image editor such as Photoshop or GIMP.

What does opacity control?

Opacity (0–100%) controls how transparent the watermark text is. At 100%, the watermark is fully opaque. At 50% (the default), it is semi-transparent, making the underlying image visible through the text. Lower values produce a subtle watermark; higher values produce a more prominent one.

Can the watermark be removed?

A text watermark applied with this tool can potentially be removed with image editing software, especially at low opacity. For stronger protection, use a higher opacity and position the watermark over important parts of the image. For professional-grade watermarking, consider a dedicated watermarking application.

Can I add a logo or image watermark instead of text?

This tool supports text watermarks only. For image/logo watermarks, use the Merge Images tool to overlay a logo onto your image, or use a desktop image editor that supports layer compositing.

What formats are supported?

JPEG, PNG, and WebP images up to 100MB are supported. The output format matches the input format.

Is the watermarking done in my browser or on a server?

Watermarking runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images are never uploaded to any server.
