Resize Image Online — Change Image Dimensions
Resize images to any dimensions online. Maintain aspect ratio or set custom width and height. Free, browser-based.
Resizing images is one of the most common image editing tasks. Whether you need to shrink a large photo for email, resize a logo for a specific placement, or scale down images before uploading them to a website, this tool handles it entirely in your browser. Enter the desired width and height in pixels, optionally maintain the aspect ratio, and download the resized image in the same format as the original.
How to use
- Click 'Choose Image' and select the image you want to resize.
- Enter the desired width and height in pixels. Check 'Maintain aspect ratio' to prevent distortion.
- Click 'Resize' and download the resized image.
FAQ
Will the image be distorted if I change the aspect ratio?
If you uncheck 'Maintain aspect ratio' and set a width and height that differ from the original proportions, the image will be stretched or squashed to fit the new dimensions. Enable 'Maintain aspect ratio' to automatically calculate the correct dimension based on the value you enter, preventing distortion.
What is the maximum output size I can set?
There is no hard limit on output dimensions — you can enter any positive integer. However, creating very large canvas sizes (e.g. 10,000×10,000 pixels) may be slow or run out of memory in the browser, depending on your device. For practical use, dimensions under 5,000 pixels in either direction are reliably fast.
Does resizing reduce image quality?
Scaling an image down (making it smaller) generally preserves quality well. Scaling up (making it larger than the original) will result in visible blurring or pixelation, since the browser interpolates new pixels from existing ones. For best results, always resize from a source image that is larger than your target size.
What formats are supported?
The tool supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF images. The output format matches the input. Note that only the first frame of an animated GIF is processed — animated GIFs are not preserved after resizing.
Can I resize to specific social media dimensions?
Yes. Simply enter the required dimensions for the platform you need. For example: Instagram square 1080×1080, Twitter header 1500×500, Facebook cover 820×312. Refer to the platform's current image size guidelines for the most up-to-date requirements.
Is the resizing done in my browser or on a server?
Resizing runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images are never uploaded to any server.
