Convert Excel to PDF Online
Convert Excel spreadsheets (.xlsx) to PDF files that display consistently everywhere.
Spreadsheets are powerful for working with data but not ideal for sharing. An Excel file looks different depending on the recipient's version of Excel, their screen size, their print settings, and the fonts they have installed. Column widths shift, rows break across pages differently, and formulas are visible instead of just their values. Converting your spreadsheet to PDF locks the layout into place. What you see is what they get, on every device and in every PDF viewer. This tool converts .xlsx and .xls files to PDF on our secure server using LibreOffice. Your file is deleted immediately after processing.
How to use
- Click 'Choose XLSX' and select your Excel spreadsheet.
- Click 'Convert to PDF' to process the file on our secure server.
- Download the PDF and verify the layout and data look correct before sharing.
FAQ
Will formulas be shown in the PDF or just their results?
Only the calculated results of formulas are shown in the PDF, not the formulas themselves. The PDF captures the current values in the cells exactly as they appear in the spreadsheet.
How are multiple sheets handled in the PDF?
Each sheet in the Excel workbook becomes a section of the PDF. All visible sheets are included in the output. Hidden sheets are not included.
The PDF cuts off columns that are visible in Excel.
This happens when the spreadsheet is wider than the page size used for conversion. LibreOffice uses the print area and page setup settings from the spreadsheet. If columns are being cut off, try setting the print area in Excel to include all necessary columns, or use the Fit to Page option in Page Setup before converting.
Charts and graphs from Excel appear incorrectly in the PDF.
Most standard charts convert correctly. Complex or custom chart types may not render identically due to differences between how Excel and LibreOffice handle chart rendering. For presentations where chart accuracy is critical, converting directly from Excel using File, Save As, PDF on your own machine will give the most accurate result.
Can I convert both .xlsx and .xls files?
Yes. Both the older .xls format and the newer .xlsx format are accepted. LibreOffice handles both and the conversion process is identical for either.
Is my file safe when I upload it?
Yes. Your file is sent over an encrypted connection and processed on a secure server. It is deleted immediately after the PDF is returned to you. Dockitt does not store, read, or share your files.
